Granties Dixie Six, Friday 31st May 2019

GRANTIES DIXIE SIX are here tonight, Friday 31st May 2019. Yep, back here by popular demand in our own FARNBOROUGH JAZZ CLUB (Kent).  The band made its debut entrance a couple of months ago in February and was a wonderful success with most of our audience – it was full on brilliant swinging Dixieland jazz.  So, let me fill you in as to who we have in the band again tonight.  Firstly, we are thrilled to have PETER LEONARD playing trumpet and singing.  He has played here on many occasions with various bands and I can tell you, he is super.  Joining him, we have the brilliant magical tenor sax playing of JOHN LEE.  Plus, another wonderful vocalist, BOB DWYER on trombone (he has his own band, regularly here – ‘Bob Dwyer’s Bix & Pieces).  TIM HUSKISSON is playing piano (well, he needs no introduction).  Roger Curphey is getting back to his old self, but I said rest for one more time – for the moment he has a motorway journey to get here.  So, we have KEITH DONALD on double bass – he is a ‘great’ swingin’ bass player too.  I’ll be singing two songs and of course, we have my own KEITH GRANT on drums (you never know, you might actually witness Keith catching a stick tonight!).  See you later jazzers – your hosts, Diane and Keith.
