{"id":6616,"date":"2022-04-11T19:10:24","date_gmt":"2022-04-11T19:10:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/?p=6616"},"modified":"2022-04-19T15:49:21","modified_gmt":"2022-04-19T15:49:21","slug":"the-windy-city-weatherbirds-easter-sunday-afternoon-17th-april-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/?p=6616","title":{"rendered":"Windy City Weatherbirds, 17th April 2022, Easter Sunday Afternoon (2:00pm-5:00pm)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 dir=\"ltr\"><b style=\"color: #0000ff; font-size: large;\">&#8216;Windy City Weatherbirds&#8217;, is a newly-formed band of six very fine, extremely talented young musicians.\u00a0 Three brothers, three\u00a0 friends &#8211; met at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.\u00a0 How proud their parents must be, especially Mr &amp; Mrs Pickering.\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff; font-size: large;\"><b>Keith and I run this Jazz Club, love jazz in most of its forms.\u00a0 We came across &#8216;The Mick Collins Jazz Orchestra&#8217; in The H.G. Wells Centre in Bromley, Kent, UK (since raised to the ground), we enjoyed the brilliance of their professionalism and thus became firm fans.\u00a0 Mick took great pride encouraging\u00a0 many graduates to join to give them a start, so they would gain confidence.\u00a0 It was always a thrill for us too, to enjoy their excitement at joining these well- great professionals and to &#8216;grow&#8217; in confidence.\u00a0 It was so sad for all, when Mick died, but his wife, Trisia (who had supported his efforts for so many years), was determined to keep his wonderful work alive, as did all the musicians.\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff; font-size: large;\"><b>Last year, between bad\u00a0Covid times, Keith asked Magnus Pickering, if\u00a0he would like to put together a group and play in traditional\u00a0style jazz, to which he agreed? Keith suggested to Magnus they think up a name to call themselves. &#8216;The Windy City Weatherbirds&#8217; was the name they wanted.\u00a0 Keith was worried it wouldn&#8217;t be commercial enough, so came up with various\u00a0ones, but I said to let them keep the name, being young. They\u00a0had actually thought up the name,\u00a0for very good reason &#8211; to describe the Chi<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">cago-sounds of Bobby Hackett and Jack Teagarden. that they loved.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b>I am sure Mick would be so proud of this spin-off.\u00a0 I know Keith and I are just as proud, as I&#8217;m sure Tricia must be of these &#8216;Birds&#8217; &#8211; so many &#8216;proud&#8217;s&#8217;, aye.<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #0000ff; font-size: large;\"><b>So now let us introduce these likeable guys, they are:\u00a0 \u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #0000ff;
