\u00a0Friday 12th October 2018. \u00a0MIKE JACKSON will be on trumpet, with PAT GLOVER on clarinet, MIKE DUCKWORTH on trombone, LYNN SAUNDERS on banjo, BILL TRAXLER on drums and PETE CLANCY on double bass. \u00a0It is such a shame that famous old jazz pub, The Lord Napier in Thornton Heath, was demolished last year, but it seems it may possibly be re-developed and return as a pub.\u00a0 However, that is likely to be a long way off.\u00a0 \u00a0I remember Keith playing drums in Jeff Hatton\u2019s \u2018Manhatton Jazz Band\u2019 (Pat & Lynn too), who, during the \u201880\u2019s and 90\u2019s, would play there whenever Bill Brun<\/strong>s<\/strong>kill\u2019s band would go on tour.\u00a0 Bill held a residency from 1968 until the late nineties, which, according to The Thornton Heath Chronicle, was immortalised in a Thames Television documentary \u201cWhatever Happened To Bill Brunskill\u201d. \u00a0As the Chronicle said, the jazz heyday was during the seventies and eighties. \u00a0I can remember Publican Vic making the pub famous for jazz in the 60\u2019s \u2013 The Delta Jazz Band and Mike Daniels Big Band playing there as far back as 50\u2019s. \u00a0Publican Bob tried so hard to keep the jazz going till the end. Meanwhile, why not come and give this band some support.\u00a0 They are a happy bunch of guys and it will be another lovely jazz night.\u00a0 See you for an 8:00pm start \u2026\u2026\u2026 <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
