MIKE BARRY\u2019S FRISCO FANATICS <\/strong><\/span>are coming to town (well the country side – ha) bringing that \u2018West Coast jazz\u2019 sound this <\/strong>Friday, 8th<\/sup> June 2018<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 <\/strong>MIKE<\/strong><\/span> is bringing some great guys with him especially for you to enjoy both listening and dancing to, at our <\/strong>Farnborough Jazz Club, Kent (BR6 7BA in the Sports Club)<\/span><\/strong>.<\/strong>\u00a0 These lovely musicians<\/strong> are to be\u00a0<\/strong>TONY TEALE<\/strong><\/span> on clarinet,\u00a0<\/strong>LES HANSCOMBE<\/strong><\/span> on trombone & vocals, <\/strong>GRAHAM BARTON<\/strong> <\/span>on piano, <\/strong>JOHN SMITH<\/strong><\/span> on banjo, <\/strong>COLIN GRAHAM<\/strong><\/span> on sousaphone and <\/strong>BRIAN STAPLEY<\/strong><\/span> on drums.\u00a0 Mike<\/span> says this band is looking at 1900\u2019s-20\u2019s West Coast sound as played by such bands as \u2018Firehouse Five Plus Two\u2019, \u2018The Original Salty Dogs Jazz Band\u2019 and \u2018Turk Murphy & His Frisco Jazzband\u2019, plus \u2018Bob Scobey’s Frisco Band.\u00a0 All of which had enjoyed the likes of Armstrong\u2019s Hot Five, \u2018King\u2019 Oliver Original Dixieland Jazz Band, \u2018Bix\u2019 Beiderbecke and not forgetting \u2018The Original Dixieland Jazz Band\u2019. \u00a0\u00a0I asked Mike<\/span> about his cornet and he said it\u2019s a hybrid instrument called a \u2019cornet-trumpet\u2019! \u00a0\u00a0Well if all this info doesn\u2019t pull you in to our fun jazz club in your hoards (preferably by coach) to enjoy, I don\u2019t think anything will.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
