It is with\u00a0great sadness that I tell you of the passing of Trefor \u2018Fingers\u2019 Williams<\/span><\/strong>, a wonderful member of one of Mike\u2019s Band.\u00a0 I hope to be bringing you a Tribute to this magical bass player and lovely man in a \u00a0short while.\u00a0 Trefor, who died 5th September 2017, was bass player (with ‘Max Collie’s Rhythm Aces’ <\/em>and ‘Phil Mason’s All Stars’<\/em>),\u00a0 I know everyone will be saddened by this news, but tonight we will celebrate his life.<\/p>\n

Colin Dobson, well known on trumpet with the Billy “Wakey, Wakey!” Cotton band , and a jazz legend in his own right, is a regular visitor to Farnborough Jazz Club where his opinions are often sought by other trumpet virtuosos with regard to their performances. Here Mike Barry, trumpet man with his own XXL band, discusses technical points with Colin over a friendly pint of Spitfire bitter. Coming tonight, FRIDAY,<\/strong> <\/span>15TH SEPTEMBER 2017<\/span>,<\/strong> Mike<\/strong> <\/span>has this band the \u2018MIKE BARRY\u2019S FRISCO FANATICS\u2019<\/span>,<\/strong> here at FARNBOROUGH JAZZ CLUB, Kent<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 By the way, today is actually the 77th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain<\/strong>.\u00a0 Last year, Keith<\/strong><\/span> held his art exhibition, showing all his wonderful Spitfire and Hurricane water colour paintings (he will be bringing\u00a0a print of one\u00a0to show you)……Back to the jazz – MIKE<\/span><\/strong>, trumpeter and vocalist, has three bands.\u00a0 It has been a year since we had these Frisco boys<\/span> <\/strong>though, but not because we don\u2019t love them.\u00a0 They are a really happy band and we know you will enjoy them and their music.\u00a0 The musicians\u00a0accompanying Mike <\/strong><\/span>will be\u00a0TIM HUSKISSON<\/span> <\/strong>on clarinet and\u00a0LES HANSCOMBE<\/strong> <\/span>on trombone & vocals.\u00a0 Also GRAHAM BARTON<\/strong> <\/span>on piano, JOHN SMITH<\/strong><\/span> on banjo, MARC EASENER<\/strong> <\/span>on sousaphone and BRIAN STAPLEY<\/strong> <\/span>on drums \u2013 yes a great line-up.\u00a0 If you all try to get here early, we will start at 8:00pm.\u00a0 All are welcome, we love plenty of dancing and we have a good bar.\u00a0 So come and enjoy yourselves, we do expect a great evening.<\/p>\n
