font-size: 1rem;\"><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Friday, 14<sup>th<\/sup> February 2014 <\/b><\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">(celebrating <\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem; color: #ff0000;\">\u2665Happy St. Valentine\u2019s Day\u2665\u2019<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">) here at\u00a0<\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Farnborough Jazz Club<\/b><\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">.\u00a0 The weather was atrocious and many of you couldn\u2019t make it (once again I welcomed those who came with \u2018Good evening my little ducklings).\u00a0 Anyhow, the band travelled from far and wide through it all.\u00a0 Not only that, we had a chap (called Alan) who had travelled from Devon to Weymouth (both places which have been hit badly by the storms and floods).\u00a0 He then came from Weymouth to visit us (for the first time), danced brilliantly, staying till the end and then returned to Weymouth that night!\u00a0 Another (new) couple travelled from Milton Keynes too.\u00a0 \u00a0However, those who refrained from coming, I must tell you a tree was blown over in the High Street, so don\u2019t feel so bad.\u00a0 But sorry,\u00a0now to make you drool at what you missed?\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem; color: #ff0000;\">\u2665<\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">ALLAN (Lord Arsenal) BRADLEY<\/b><\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">\u00a0(trumpet\/vocals),\u00a0<\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem; color: #ff0000;\">\u2665<\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">JOHN CROCKER<\/b><\/b><strong>\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">TONY PITT<\/b><\/b><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">(banjo),<\/span><strong><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem; color: #ff0000;\">\u2665<\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">HARVEY WESTON<\/b><\/b>\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">(double bass) and\u00a0<\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem; color: #ff0000;\">\u2665<\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">JOHN TYSON<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">\u00a0(drums).<\/span><\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">The evening was wonderful, with the tunes and great jokes all based most aptly for the day. \u00a0They began the evening\u2019s overtones of romance with \u2018All of Me\u2019 (hmmm).\u00a0 Then some lovely solos by all were played with \u2018Sugar, That Sugar Baby o\u2019 Mine\u2019.\u00a0 Barry sang the next number called \u2018Gee, Baby, Aint I Been Good to You\u2019.\u00a0 Then Barry announced \u201cWe were asked for a rap number, so here it is!\u201d and began playing (with Allan singing) \u2018Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams\u2019.\u00a0 Our audience were in absolute rapturous fits of laughter.\u00a0 \u2018Sweet Sue\u2019 was next and brought a few more dancers on to the floor.\u00a0\u00a0 Now the next number wasn\u2019t really for Valentine\u2019s night, but it was requested (I wonder why \u2013 hmm).\u00a0 It was called \u2018Love, Careless Love\u2019!\u00a0 Tony began the number with a bass solo that was brilliant and Barry also sang.\u00a0 Then I feel \u2018Move Your Body Over\u2019 needs a mention, with Allan infiltrating the song with a bit of \u2018Wakey, Wakey\u2019 theme song for Colin Dobson.\u00a0 Colin was trumpeter for many years in \u2018The Billie Cotton Band Show\u2019.\u00a0 He was in the audience with his family (his grandson [Luke] and partner are both doctors, so Colin said he will have no worries now).\u00a0 Barry then sang to \u2018Girl of My Dreams\u2019.\u00a0 He was wearing a pair of Y-fronts on his head.\u00a0 The band had awarded them to Peter Marr, one of our regulars.\u00a0 Pete is a wonderful supporter of many clubs and is known by so many bands and has incredible jazz knowledge.\u00a0 Pete donated his \u2018award\u2019 to our raffle, but I awarded it back to him at the end of the \u2018draw\u2019 for being such a great \u2018supporter\u2019 (I don\u2019t know why it wasn\u2019t chosen a\u2019head\u2019 of the other prizes!).\u00a0 Behave yourself Diane and back to the repertoire.\u00a0 The next number was to feature the great John Crocker on clarinet.\u00a0 He chose to play that song reminiscent of Rudolph<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>\u2665<\/b><\/span>Valentino<b><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u2665<\/span>\u00a0<\/b>called <em>\u2018The Sheik of Araby\u2019<\/em>.\u00a0 John was superb.\u00a0 Barry then announced the next number as \u2018There will Never Be Another Ewe\u2019 by Shepherd Neame!!!
