Photo by Mike Witt<\/span>.<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They have all played here individually with other bands, apart from Murray.\u00a0 We were originally to have Pete Rudeforth on trumpet, but he\u00a0needed to (understandably) bail out for a gig with Chris Barber in Belgium, then we were to have Gary Wood.\u00a0 Unfortunately Gary was taken ill at the last minute and unable to make it, so Mike kindly stepped in.\u00a0 Phew, what a line-up we had anyway, aye, one you just couldn\u2019t miss.\u00a0 John Crocker had been abroad for several weeks, so asked if we had missed him.\u00a0 I of course, said \u2018No\u2019 (with a question sound to my voice).\u00a0 \u2018Fickle\u2019 was JC\u2019s remark back \u2013 ha ha.\u00a0 Of course anyone would miss him \u2013 what a player aye!\u00a0 Well he was with Chris Barber for 30yrs, plus he played for Elton John.\u00a0 With such players, Jackie had to be special, to command such talent and so, yes it was a special evening and if you missed it, hard luck.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3851\" style=\"width: 406px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Jackie-Free-5aug2016-2524.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3851\" class=\" wp-image-3851\" src=\"https:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Jackie-Free-5aug2016-2524-300x205.jpg\" alt=\"Jackie Free's Chicagoans play for Farnborough Jazz Club (Kent) on Friday, 5th August 2016. Photo by Mike Witt<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was just lovely to have Mike back in the old place again, not\u00a0having seen him for possibly twenty years, or more.\u00a0 So to hear him featured with <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u2018Georgia On My Mind\u2019<\/em> <\/span>was lovely, his trumpet playing was so pure.\u00a0 He then sang the next one too, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u2018Kansas City, Here I Come\u2019<\/em> <\/span>and even topped it by playing a mouth organ too.
