Photo by Mike Witt.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Last week, I said these guys have played together for so many years, obviously showing they have a feel for their music \u2013 good old traditional jazz to dance and drink to.\u00a0 So you obviously all agreed with me and some of you even turned up before we had set up \u2013 lovely enthusiasm thanks.\u00a0 Here\u2019s how the evening went.\u00a0 They began with a happy little number called <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u2018All I Do Is Dream Of You\u2019<\/em><\/span>.\u00a0 I remember Gene Kelly singing this one and was surprised to read that the film negatives of <em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u2018Singing in the Rain\u2019<\/span> <\/em>were destroyed in a studio fire in 1978, although prints of the film survived, thank goodness, it is <strong><u>one<\/u><\/strong> of my all-time favourites.\u00a0 I missed making notes for the next few numbers, with people arriving \u2013 even wrote \u2018Chris\u2019 sang a song (but missed writing the name of the song) and they didn\u2019t have a Chris in the band \u2013ha (they\u2019re coming to take me away soon!) Photo by Mike Witt.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I jotted down that Mick played big bertha (bass sax) \u2013 fabulous.\u00a0 I gave my usual three ticks to the next number <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u2018Lou-i-Easy-An-I-A&#8217;<\/em><\/span><em>, <\/em>which meant they all did a lovely job with playing.\u00a0 It is another happy jaunty number, so again plenty of dancing.\u00a0 The next tune, <em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u2018Hello Central, Give Me Dr Jazz\u2019<\/span>,<\/em> must have had the dancers up too, including me because I didn\u2019t write anything, except Mick sang and I recall he also has a great jazz voice! <em>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u2018Let Me Call You Sweetheart\u2019<\/span><\/em> was another tune with three ticks, but I think I was enjoying myself, I forgot to write anything (Cinzano time, I think \u2013 ha).\u00a0 Then came <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>\u2018Somebody Loves Me\u2019<\/em> <\/span>and was sung by Pat who, as I have said before, has a very romantic voice and I had put my three ticks.\u00a0 Lovely, because again he sang the last number, being that Fat\u2019s Waller\u2019s number<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em> \u2018You Meet The Nicest People In Your Dreams\u2019<\/em><\/span>.\u00a0 Oh, yes, congratulations Pam and Pat, on becoming great-grandparents again by two separate daughter-in-laws. \u00a0One born lunchtime Wednesday, the other early Thursday morning!
