Photo by Mike Witt.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I loved Goff singing next (in true \u2018Louis Armstrong\u2019 style) to <em>\u2018Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans\u2019.<\/em>\u00a0 They played it beautifully and brought everyone onto the dance floor (such a romantic lot).\u00a0 Next they played a wonderful rendition of <em>\u2018Everybody Loves <strong>Friday Night<\/strong>\u2019<\/em>.\u00a0 Oh what a certainly fun for us dancing \u2013 ha.\u00a0 \u00a0Oh what a marvelous bit of fun and with everyone in the audience joining in singing at the top of their voices.\u00a0 Yes, really, oh, what was that?\u00a0 Yes, you\u2019re right, it was actually <em>\u2018Everybody Loves Saturday Night\u2019<\/em> &#8211; ha.\u00a0 Then came a brilliant swinging number <em>\u2018Clarinet Marmalade\u2019<\/em>, fabulous.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3199\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Mike-Barrys-Uptown-Gang-8apr2016_2267.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3199\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3199\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3199\" src=\"https:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Mike-Barrys-Uptown-Gang-8apr2016_2267-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Mike Barry's Uptown Gang (Front Line) at Farnborough Jazz Club on 8th April 2016. Photo by Mike Witt.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2018Whispering Mike\u2019 had everyone in fits of laughter with his party piece, singing to <em>\u2018March Dominique\u2019<\/em>.\u00a0 He sings it in pigeon French (complete with beret).\u00a0 Oh he is wonderful.\u00a0 I had a hard time finding who wrote this tune, only finding <em>\u2018Dominique\u2019-<\/em> Jeannine Deckers\u2019 (\u2018Sister Smile\u2019 or \u2018The Singing Nun\u2019) tune, not believing it could be this tune, being a Nun.\u00a0 But if I had listened to it on You Tube, I would have realised it was the same tune.\u00a0 However, Mike shows his wonderful talent, because he added a New Orleans \u2018marching\u2019 touch to it and hence a fantastic result.\u00a0 His talent didn\u2019t end there, because the following tune <strong>was<\/strong> his own composition.\u00a0 He took the idea from pianists, during the Great Depression of 1929, who (unable to get band work) took individual jobs and to jazz things up, \u2018Boogie\u2019 was invented.\u00a0 Mike wrote this tune and called it <em>\u2018Bluin\u2019 the Eighths\u2019<\/em> (musicians will understand how and what that means).\u00a0 I absolutely loved the result and strongly believe Mike should record it \u2013 it was super.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3201\" style=\"width: 292px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Mike-Barrys-Uptown-Gang-8apr2016_2273.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3201\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3201\" class=\" wp-image-3201\" src=\"https:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Mike-Barrys-Uptown-Gang-8apr2016_2273-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Smiley John Stewart on Banjo with Mike Barry's Uptown Gang at Farnborough Jazz Club on 8th April 2016.
