{"id":234,"date":"2013-11-29T16:05:11","date_gmt":"2013-11-29T16:05:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/?p=234"},"modified":"2016-05-15T15:47:53","modified_gmt":"2016-05-15T15:47:53","slug":"new-orleans-heat-22112013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/?p=234","title":{"rendered":"New Orleans Heat, 22\/11\/2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><b>\u2018NEW ORLEANS HEAT\u2019<\/b> returned to us again at the <b>Farnborough Jazz Club<\/b> on <b>Friday, 22nd November 2013 <\/b>\u00a0\u00a0A <b>7-piece band,<\/b> with leader <b>BARRY GRUMMETT <\/b>on piano, <b>GWYN LEWIS <\/b>on trumpet, <b>MIKE TAYLOR <\/b>on trombone, <b>JOHN SCANTLEBURY <\/b>on reeds, <b>TONY PEATMAN <\/b>on banjo<b>, COLIN BUSHALL <\/b>on drums and <b>HARRY SLATER <\/b>on double bass.\u00a0 \u00a0Barry travels from Loughborough, Glyn from Swansea, Mike from Sheffield, John from Cardiff, Tony from Lincoln, Colin from Gloucestershire and Harry from Long Eaton in Derbyshire, pretty amazing lot aren\u2019t they.\u00a0 We had a good turn out for them, with a newish unexpected group of six ladies, plus another new group of four ladies.\u00a0 Of course that helps to make our male audience happy (better not say it makes the band happy, their wives may not like it \u2013 ha)!\u00a0 With a bigger audience, it was not easy to catch names of the tunes.\u00a0 I do know the dance floor was certainly very busy all the time, me too!\u00a0 I first jotted down \u2018Salute to Ohio Blues\u2019.\u00a0 Then \u2018Oh Lady Be Good\u2019, which was sung by John.\u00a0 Then a lovely dancing number I haven\u2019t heard in a while, called \u2018Ti-Pi-Tin\u2019, wonderful. \u2018Let Me Call You Sweetheart\u2019 was next.\u00a0 Now you have guessed, plenty of singing from the audience, but lots of dancing too.\u00a0 \u2018New Second Line (Jo Avery\u2019s Piece)\u2019 was one of those numbers you just know, but can\u2019t recall its name &#8211;
