We were thrilled to bring you BARRY PALSER\u2019S SUPER SIX<\/strong> <\/span>for your enjoyment at Farnborough Jazz Club<\/strong> <\/span>(BR6 7BB) on Friday, 19th<\/sup> June 2015<\/span><\/strong>!\u00a0 BARRY<\/strong><\/span> (trombone&vocls) had booked ALLAN (Lord Arsenal) BRADLEY<\/strong><\/span> (trumpet\/vocals), TIM HUSKISSON<\/strong> <\/span>(clarinet), TONY PITT<\/strong> <\/span>(banjo), HARVEY WESTON<\/strong> <\/span>(d.bass) and JOHN TYSON<\/strong> <\/span>(drums).<\/p>\n

I said they would be lovely jubbly and I wasn\u2019t wrong. They began the evening with Hoagy Carmichael\u2019s \u2018Darktown Strutters Ball\u2019<\/em>, what a \u2018hot\u2019 starter for<\/em> ten. Followed on with Scott Joplin\u2019s \u2018Ole Miss Rag\u2019<\/em>, (referring to the Mississippi River and brilliantly played without a piano), then \u2018Aint Misbehaving\u2019,<\/em> another terrific one, with plenty of dancing by everyone showing their appreciation. We knew you were in for some excitement. We certainly enjoyed our line-dance, sorry I didn\u2019t manage to write the tune down, because I was having so much fun.<\/p>\n

‘His Lordship\u2019 sang the next number, \u2018Back in Your Old Back Yard\u2019 <\/em>in his usual super brilliance. I remember they all put different hats on, when they played \u2018Exactly Like You\u2019<\/em>, for a little fun and then Barry sang a Tommy Dorsey hit, \u2018Music, Maestro, Please\u2019<\/em>. Now there\u2019s a nice romantic one to dance to.<\/p>\n

Of course I just loved the next number, being Tim\u2019s special, \u2018Running Wild\u2019<\/em> \u2013 I loved Marilyn Monroe singing it, (I\u2019m sure you male species loved her performing it in the film, \u2018Some Like It <\/em>Hot\u2019 aye?), although Django Reinhardt\u2019s version is a knock-out one too).<\/p>\n

I have to say they all played their socks off the whole evening, but I must give special mention to the drum solo by John (with his wonderful iridescent drum sticks too!) with \u2018Everybody Loves My Baby\u2019<\/em>, fantastic.<\/p>\n

Barry sung the last number \u2018Deed I Do\u2019<\/em> to complete another wonderful evening of jazz, sending us all home on a high and all looking forward to their next date here on 11th<\/sup> September 2016.<\/p>\n
