{"id":213,"date":"2013-11-05T08:15:14","date_gmt":"2013-11-05T08:15:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/?p=213"},"modified":"2016-08-25T09:57:33","modified_gmt":"2016-08-25T09:57:33","slug":"bob-dwyers-bits-pieces-1112013-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/?p=213","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Bob Dwyer\u2019s Bix &#038; Pieces\u2019, 1\/11\/2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">\u2018BOB DWYER\u2019S BIX &amp; PIECES\u2019 <\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">played for us on <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Friday, 1<sup>st<\/sup> November 2013 <\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">here at<\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"> <\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">our <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">FARNBOROUGH JAZZ CLUB<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">.\u00a0 Band members with trombonist<\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"> BOB<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"> were <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">MAX EMMONS<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"> on trumpet, <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">BERNIE HOLDEN<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"> on clarinet, <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">HUGH CROZIER <\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">on piano, <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">JOHN BAYNE<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"> on double bass\/bass sax, <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">JOHN STUART <\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">on banjo, plus <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">GRAHAM COLLICOTT<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"> on drums.\u00a0 Before I look at my notes, I must mention my favourite number of the evening!\u00a0 It was a song from Irvin Berlin\u2019s film \u2018Carefree\u2019 staring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers\u2019.\u00a0 You\u2019ve guested it, \u2018Change Partners and Dance with Me\u2019.\u00a0 I remember there were plenty of dancers on the floor.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t have a partner and I couldn\u2019t help it, I found myself dancing around the outskirts of the dance floor and over to Keith at the bar, you know, how one does in your own home, when you are completely on your own!\u00a0 It was such a lovely old favourite song, one that you have to dance to (sorry folks, I\u2019m such an ol\u2019 romantic!).\u00a0 The other memory was of John Bayne playing bass sax, which I call \u2018Big Bertha\u2019 \u2013 anyone else refer to that instrument with this name?\u00a0 Maybe I got that name from someone else, I can\u2019t remember!
