FARNBOROUGH JAZZ CLUB<\/strong><\/span> enjoyed the booking with DAVE RANCE\u2019S ROCKIN’ CHAIR BAND<\/strong><\/span> on Friday, 12<\/b>th<\/b><\/span><\/sup> June 2015<\/b><\/span>.<\/strong>\u00a0 They looked great, played great and sang great.\u00a0 DAVE RANCE<\/strong><\/span> (trumpet&vocs)\u00a0was joined by \u00a0DEREK SCOFIELD<\/strong><\/span> (sax & clarinet), BRIAN WEBB <\/span><\/b><\/strong>(trombone), HENRY HARRISON<\/span><\/b> (drums), MIKE BREWERTON<\/strong><\/span> (d.bass) and DOUG PARRY<\/strong><\/span> (banjo).<\/p>\n

They played some wonderful tunes and my first number to mention is \u2018<\/em>Bourbon Street Parade\u2019<\/em>, a great favourite, sung by Brian, with Dave harmonizing.\u00a0 This number encouraged our Steve to get his umbrellas for the brolly parade, just wonderful.<\/p>\n

Brian sang again my next choice – \u2018Nobody\u2019s Sweetheart Now\u2019<\/em>.\u00a0 He sure does have an excellent voice.\u00a0 Oh and what about \u2018Whistling Rufus\u2019<\/em>?\u00a0 Not sure that has been played here before.\u00a0 A lovely old \u2018Glen Miller\u2019 favourite of mine came next, being \u2018Johnson Rag\u2019<\/em>, superb playing by Derek on baritone sax – another lovely one to dance to. \u00a0We joined in singing \u2018Ace in the Hole\u2019,<\/em> then Dave was featured with the next number, with Brian singing \u2018That Old Feeling\u2019<\/em>.\u00a0 We performed our line-dance to the next one, \u2018Shimmy-Sha-Wobble\u2019<\/em>, great fun.<\/p>\n

We were then treated to that wonderful \u2018act\u2019 by Mike and Henry.\u00a0 The number?\u00a0 You\u2019ve guessed it – \u2018Big Noise From Winnetka\u2019 <\/em>and what a performance, just brilliant.\u00a0 They completed the evening with \u2018Lilly of the Valley\u2019<\/em>, sung by Brian and everyone not only joined in singing, but whilst up on the dance floor too.\u00a0 Such a lovely evening once again.\u00a0 Thanks boys, you didn\u2019t disappoint us.\u00a0 [So sorry no pics of Mike and Doug – these are the only photos that ‘came out’.]<\/p>\n
