TONY PITT\u2019S ALL STARS<\/strong> <\/span>appeared FRIDAY, 29<\/strong>th<\/sup> MAY 2015<\/strong> <\/span>here at our FARNBOROUGH JAZZ CLUB<\/strong><\/span>. Oh well done Tony,<\/span><\/strong> for getting the following stars, \u2018cos they were brilliant. We had\u00a0DENNY ILETT<\/span><\/strong> on trumpet,\u00a0AL NICHOLS<\/strong> <\/span>on reeds,<\/strong> DAVE HEW<\/strong><\/span>ITT<\/strong> <\/span>on trombone& baritone horn, ANDY LAWRENCE<\/strong><\/span> on double bass, JOHN ELLMER<\/strong> <\/span>on drums (well percussion) and of course, Toeknee<\/span> himself on banjo. What a session. We, of course, had a great turn-out, so a fantastic evening to report.<\/p>\n

My first number to mention is \u2018Hello Central, Give me Doctor Jazz\u2019<\/em> sung by Tony, not sure I have heard him sing before, what a great voice.\u00a0\u00a0Next came \u2018Travelling Blues\u2019<\/em>, certainly a one to mention, it was absolutely fabulous \u2013 brilliantly played by all of them.<\/p>\n

Denny sang next \u2018I\u2019d Like to Get You on a Slow Boat to China\u2019<\/em>, which brought out the dancers in full. Then he sang \u2018Gee Baby, Ain\u2019t I Good To You\u2019<\/em>, another great favourite.<\/p>\n

This brings me to mention Al\u2019s brilliant feature on tenor sax with \u2018Avalon\u2019<\/em>. \u00a0He was backed by some pretty wonderful solos from each of the engine boys \u2013 excellent banjo, excellent double bass and excellent drums.<\/p>\n

Another feature tune was from Dave with \u2018Some of These Days\u2019<\/em>. For this he played the baritone horn, what a star he is. We all got up to dance our (Charleston) line dance to \u2018You Always Hurt The One You Love\u2019, <\/em>great fun for us dancers. The last number to mention was superb. They all played with so much oomph. The number was \u2018Blue, Turning Grey Over You\u2019<\/em>. What a heart-thumping evening we all had, everyone was thrilled and left with huge \u2018Cheshire cat grins\u2019 on our faces. You can look forward to them returning for Keith\u2019s second birthday celebration on 15th<\/sup> August 2015 (no presents please, just pay to come in – \u00a310).<\/p>\n
