{"id":192,"date":"2013-11-05T15:07:34","date_gmt":"2013-11-05T15:07:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/?p=192"},"modified":"2016-02-17T17:13:04","modified_gmt":"2016-02-17T17:13:04","slug":"barry-palsers-all-stars-18112013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/?p=192","title":{"rendered":"Barry Palser\u2019s Super Six, 8\/11\/2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b><\/b><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">BARRY PALSER\u2019S SUPER SIX <\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">on<\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"> 8<sup>th<\/sup> NOVEMBER 2013<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"> certainly was (as I predicted last week) an exciting evening\u2019s entertainment here at <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Farnborough Jazz Club<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">.\u00a0 <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">BARRY <\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">(trombonist) had booked <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">ALAN GRESTY<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"> (trumpet), <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">JOHN CROCKER <\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">(reeds), <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">TONY PITT <\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">(banjo), <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">HARVEY WESTON <\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">(double bass) and <\/span><b style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">JOHN TYSON<\/b><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"> (drums).\u00a0 What a plethora of stars aye?\u00a0 Certainly not too much for me!\u00a0 I was so enjoying it, I forgot to do some filming. \u00a0I suppose I\u2019m not so perfect as I think I am, ha!\u00a0 Anyway, here\u2019s how the evening went.\u00a0 They started their programme with Barry singing \u2018When You\u2019re Smiling\u2019.\u00a0 This used to be a signature tune when Harvey played in the band years ago.\u00a0 Nice sentiment in the lyrics to kick off with.\u00a0 Next came a Bix Beiderbecke number called \u2018Jass Me Blues\u2019, which again brought on the dancers straight away and we certainly didn\u2019t go away with the next number, \u2018Nagasaki\u2019 either, I think it was our line-dance number. \u00a0John (C) was featured on tenor sax with \u2018Honeysuckle Rose\u2019, brilliant.\u00a0 Then Alan sang \u2018Everybody Loves My Baby\u2019 and \u00a0I read somewhere that John (C) can, on occasions, be tempted to sing and he did just that, singing \u2018All of Me\u2019.\u00a0 John, you have a lovely jazz voice, so please be tempted to sing more often.
