Photo by Mike Witt<\/span>.<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chris comes from <strong>GOSPORT, Hampshire<\/strong>, where he is on the Committee of the <strong>Gosport Jazz Club.<\/strong> He is a wonderful pianist, very melodic and full of personality. He gave an explanation about my first choice of song and the fact that there are two tunes with almost the same name. One being <em>\u2018Panama Rag\u2019,<\/em> composed by Charles Seymour (1904), obviously a Ragtime and the one they played for us, <em>\u2018Panama\u2019, by William Tyers (1911)<\/em>. We thoroughly enjoyed this one, although I am sure we would have enjoyed the other version anyway, because they were playing\u00a0\u2018hot\u2019. Likewise with <em>\u2018St. Louis Blues\u2019<\/em>. Max sang, with John playing double bass and Bernie on alto sax. What an exciting rendition from all the band.\u00a0 My next choice to tell you about was a\u00a0completely different tune. It was a beautiful number sung by Bob, called <em>\u2018Spain\u2019<\/em>. Photo by Mike Witt.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nick was next on vocals with his good ol\u2019 tradie voice to <em>\u2018Ace In The Hole\u2019<\/em>, with another one for us to all dance to. Oh they were on fire, because they followed on with Max\u2019s great intro on harmonica to <em>\u2018Freight Train\u2019<\/em>. I can just see them now, all flat out, what a performance (sorry, you have to put up with me gushing again!). The next number got our line dance going, now quite regularly a dozen or so of us, all having fun! The number was <em>\u2018That DaDa Strain\u2019\u00a0, with\u00a0fabulous drums from Laurie<\/em>\u00a0and enjoyably they played every bit as good\u00a0as Bob Crosby &amp; The Bob Cats did.\u00a0 Another wonderful number to enjoy (requested by Gordon), with John bringing out \u2018Big Bertha\u2019 (bass sax) and everyone giving us brilliant solos to <em>\u2018Weary Blues\u2019<\/em>. Calming down, let me lead you into the next number <em>\u2018Love Nest\u2019<\/em>. Bob\u2019s gentle dulcet tones brought on a full house of our dancers to the floor. [Oh by the by, I found 1 and 1\/2 hour free b&amp;w romantic film on You Tube (\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=SU-1D8p50h4\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">www.youtube.com\/watch?v=SU-1D8p50h4<\/span><\/a>) with Marilyn Monroe.]\u00a0 \u00a0Just two regular numbers they do for us left to mention, one being <em>\u2018Elephant Stomp\u2019<\/em> with our superb John, playing \u2018Big Bertha\u2019 and everyone backing him to the hilt, what a unit. Oh yes,\u00a0see below our video recording of him,\u00a0recorded 27<sup>th<\/sup> October 2014.\u00a0\u00a0Plus the last number, only played here, because composer Leslie was a huge friend of ours. The number being a Tommy Dorsey hit, <em>\u2018Nice To Know You Care\u2019<\/em>.
