Photo: Mike Witt<\/span><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The band members included their leader and trombonist, <strong>HANS ZAKRISSONV<\/strong>, with<strong> SVERKER NYSTRON <\/strong>on clarinet and alto sax,<strong> LIEF MELDAHL<\/strong> on bass, <strong>HANS JORGENSEN<\/strong> on banjo,<strong> INGAMAR WAGERMAN<\/strong> on piano and<strong> RONALD ANDERSON<\/strong> (from Denmark) on drums.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They had a special guest with them, who was our very own <strong>BRIAN CARRICK<\/strong> on reeds. They were all exceptional together. What a band!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1141\" style=\"width: 257px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Brian-Carrick.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1141\" class=\" wp-image-1141\" src=\"https:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Brian-Carrick-228x300.jpg\" alt=\"Brian Carrick - guesting with Red Wind Band (from Sweden)\" width=\"247\" height=\"324\" srcset=\"https:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Brian-Carrick-228x300.jpg 228w, https:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Brian-Carrick.jpg 270w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 247px) 100vw, 247px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1141\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Brian Carrick &#8211; guesting with Red Wind Band (from Sweden)<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"entry-title\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Brian\u00a0is best known to most of you as leader of his own highly popular &#8216;Brian Carrick&#8217;s\u00a0Algiers Stompers&#8217; band and\u00a0has already appeared here at Farnborough (I have found write-up for 26th October 2012, so have published it for that date!).\u00a0 Of course, you may recall, Brian plays the old metal clarinet\u00a0belonging to <strong>George Lewis<\/strong>,\u00a0(given to him\u00a0by\u00a0George&#8217;s daughter).\u00a0 Right from their first number, you knew we were in for a super evening. It began with their signature tune, <em>\u2018Red Wing\u2019<\/em>, which brought on the dancers immediately. We did not have our Gordon to start the dancing off, he being in hospital (now recovering from quadruple by-pass). However, we were delighted to have been joined by a new couple, Jane and Alan (regulars with 1066 Club at Hastings) who came especially to see the band. Keith thought they were the cabaret act\u00a0with the band. [We do hope to see you both again, you were thoroughly entertaining too, although Gordon said to tell you to lay off his patch \u2013 only joking.] \u00a0The next number to mention is George Lewis\u2019 own <em>\u2018Burgundy Street Blues\u2019<\/em>.\u00a0 Brian sang it and played George\u2019s clarinet (quite a lovely thought). Photo: Mike Witt<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"entry-title\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Now I know Brian sang the next number, because he was fantastic \u2013 like a &#8216;rock&#8217; star. Ronald Anderson had come out from behind the drums to play electric guitar and the two of them were brilliant \u2013 we were all mesmerised. The number? <em>\u2018Muddy Road\u2019<\/em>.\u00a0 At the end of the evening, I told Ronald I was sure I knew him. Photo: Mike Witt<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"entry-title\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">A lovely number <em>\u2018June Night\u2019<\/em> (a Tommy Dorsey &#8216;hit&#8217;) came next and was followed by <em>a <\/em>great Latin American number called<em> \u2019Laughing Samba\u2019<\/em>. \u00a0This is a dance I just love and once again, enjoyed seeing\u00a0Jane and Alan (I don\u2019t think they missed a dance). Another favourite of a quite a few people at the club was <em>\u2018St. Philip Street Breakdown\u2019<\/em>.\u00a0 After all, it has been recorded by all the greats.\u00a0 So we come to the last number, aptly named <em>\u2018Till We Meet Again\u2019<\/em>.\u00a0We hope we do get to see them again.
