What a lovely band this is. They are so relaxed with one-another, playing everything from HOT jazz, to romantic waltzes, Latin American and rock-n-roll. Yes, music for both dancers AND the connoisseurs alike.\u00a0\u00a0 Leader <strong>BOB<\/strong> (trombone &amp; vocals) had booked the usual band members, <strong>MAX EMMONS<\/strong> (trumpet, harmonica &amp; vocals), <strong>BERNIE HOLDEN<\/strong> (clarinet &amp; sax), <strong>HUGH CROZIER <\/strong>(piano &amp; vocals), <strong>JOHN BAYNE<\/strong> (double bass &amp; bass sax), <strong>NICK SINGER <\/strong>(banjo &amp; vocals) and <strong>LAURIE CHESCOE<\/strong> (drums).<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1078\" style=\"width: 626px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Bob-Dywers-Bix-Pieces-at-Farnborough-Jazz-Club-Kent-17th-October-2014.-Photo-by-Mike-Witt.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1078\" class=\" wp-image-1078\" src=\"https:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Bob-Dywers-Bix-Pieces-at-Farnborough-Jazz-Club-Kent-17th-October-2014.-Photo-by-Mike-Witt-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"Bob Dywer's Bix &amp; Pieces at Farnborough Jazz Club, Kent 17th October 2014. He has a brilliant voice and Keith remarked how he sounded (and looked a little) like Seasick Sid. Only a little bit Nick, but you\u2019re wonderfully entertaining too. One of my favourite numbers by this band is \u2018Rebecca, Rebecca<em><span style=\"font-family: Thread-000013a0-Id-000000e0;\">, Get Your Big Legs Off of Me\u2019<\/span><\/em>\u2019. Anyway, Bob called Keith up to play <em>\u2018Blues My Naughty Sweetie\u2019<\/em>. Keith did extremely well, considering he hasn\u2019t played for a year and not on his own drum kit AND after Laurie\u2019s special too. They even gave him solos. Thanks Laurie, for asking him. However,\u00a0his electric piano malfunctioned. \u00a0He tried a couple of times more,\u00a0but had to\u00a0give up, much to my dismay, because of the video.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0These videos\u00a0will be dark (due to being taken with my old mobile) and will take a little while to upload on this site, but look out for them soon. Max sang the next number <em>\u2018I Had a Funny Feeling\u2019<\/em>. How brilliant he is, also playing harmonica (no, not at the same time-ha). Then I was so pleased to capture on video next the maestro in action playing Big Bertha with <em>\u2018Elephant Stomp\u2019<\/em>, a number I had always hoped to catch on film one day. Then the last number was sung by Bob and played especially for Keith and me. It is a Tommy Dorsey hit number that was written by our very dear friend, Leslie Baguley (see our tribute page for him), called <em>\u2018Nice To Know You Care\u2019<\/em> (also video). Everyone was on the dance floor, including Keith and I (both had tears in our eyes). So once again thanks Bob, for learning it. He says he only plays it at Farnborough, but might I suggest playing it elsewhere too, it would help to keep it alive for longer.\u00a0 To keep all music \u2018live\u2019, just support it.
