His style is influenced by many jazz greats but he is also at home working in all genres of music. His career started in 1999 at the age of 15 when he joined <b>Richard Bennett&#8217;s New Orleans Jazz Band<\/b>, which saw him tour the jazz clubs and festivals of England.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Then in 2004, Adrian joined the formidable singer, <b>TJ Johnson<\/b> with whom for the last 5 years has played at major jazz\/blues festivals all over the place i.e. Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Holland, Germany, Ireland, Belgium, Finland, it goes on.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 2010, Adrian began taking time out to promote himself as a freelance player, and began putting his own band together (to play now and then) as well as working on certain projects.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">10 Years of playing has seen Adrian work with many bands and musicians some of these include, <b>TJ Johnson and his Band, Tony Pitt All Stars, , Richard Bennett, Fallen Heroes, Tony Rico Richardson, Digby Fairweather, Shaney Forbes<\/b>, <b>Buster Blodvessel <\/b>and <b>Bad Manners<\/b>. He has also recorded on the album of <b>Jackson Scott&#8217;s band, Mano De Dios<\/b> and played on <b>Jo Whiley&#8217;s Live Lounge on radio 1 with Paloma Faith!<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Taken from Julian Webster Greaves website<\/span>: <\/b>\u00a0\u00a0<cite><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/juliangreaves\">www.myspace.com\/juliangreaves<\/a><\/cite><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tenor saxophonist\/flute and harmonica player <b>Julian<\/b> has played with everyone from <b>Shakin&#8217; Stevens, Gilbert O Sullivan, Charlie Watts, Chris Jagger,<\/b> <b>Gerry and The Pacemakers <\/b>to<b> The Eurythmics <\/b>and in September 2003 played for<b> The Rolling Stones <\/b>at the end of their world tour party at Shepherds Bush in London.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He has toured with <b>Mike D\u2019abo <\/b>and <b>Mike Pender <\/b>from <b>Manfred Man, <\/b>also<b> The Searchers, <\/b>plus <b>Brian Poole <\/b>from<b> The Tremmello\u2019s<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Julian has played on the <b>QE2<\/b> and travelled to Singapore, New Zealand and Australia, Japan, Las Vegas, as well as numerous performances in and around Europe playing his big, smokey distinctive tenor sax sound. \u00a0Recently Julian has played at <b>Ronnie Scott\u2019s Jazz Club<\/b> in London supporting <b>Van Morrison<\/b> on the first leg of his UK tour.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He continues to work with <b>Gilbert O Sullivan<\/b> regularly touring Japan and Europe and played on the main \u2018Pyramid\u2019 and acoustic stages at <b>Glastonbury 2008<\/b>. He also played with <b>Gilbert<\/b> at the <b>Royal Albert Hall<\/b> in <b>October 2009<\/b> as part of his autumn tour.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Julian is also a member of <b>Shakin\u2019 Stevens\u2019 band<\/b> as the horn section with fellow trumpet player <b>Matt Holland<\/b> (Matt played with <b>Van Morrison\u2019s Band<\/b> for 13 years). Shaky continues to tour all over the world and UK.\u00a0 Julian also played with Shaky and the band on <b>ITV\u2019s \u2018Dancing On Ice\u2019 programme on Xmas day 2008<\/b> from 8pm, closing the whole show with a \u2018knock out\u2019 performance of \u2018Merry Christmas everyone\u2019, one of Shaky\u2019s four number one hits!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Julian <\/b>was also on tour with<b> Charlie Watts<\/b> and<b> Chris Jagger <\/b>with Boogie Woogie giants<b> Ben Waters <\/b>and <b>Axel Zwingenberger<\/b> around the UK.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Here is a newsletter about Dad&#8217;s, (Barry Martyn) last evening at Farnborough Jazz Club.<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Newsletter about 18<sup>th<\/sup>&amp;25<sup>th<\/sup> February 2011<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Oh! My gosh!\u00a0 We are still reeling from Friday, 18<sup>th<\/sup> February 2011.\u00a0 We were treated to a wonderful performance by \u2018Barry Martyn and The Young Bloods\u2019, what an exciting set up.\u00a0 We had a huge turnout and understandably so.\u00a0 The band is so entertaining, extremely professional and hugely talented.\u00a0 How many \u2018traditional\u2019 jazz clubs would have expected the evening to blast off with a fiery rendition of Count Basie\u2019s \u2018Jumping\u2019 at the Woodside\u2019, fantastic!\u00a0 A few open mouths amongst the \u2018trad\u2019 buffs, but they were so soon treated to something more to their liking, with a superb solo from Frank Brooker on clarinet of \u2018High Society\u2019. \u00a0Frank was a guest star, performing top notch clarinet and sax with some mouth watering solos, exciting the whole audience.\u00a0 As the evening progressed, we were treated to great jazz in many styles, from \u2018Swing\u2019 to \u2018Dixieland\u2019 and \u2018Latin American\u2019, with even a bit of \u2018Country\u2019 from Graham Hughes on harmonica.\u00a0 We cannot speak more highly of \u2018The Young Bloods\u2019.\u00a0 Tom Kincaid\u2019s piano playing is beautiful, clever and mind blowing all in one!\u00a0 The same goes for trumpeter Alan Beechey (who also played the drums, whenever Barry sang &#8211; even though Barry can play and sing at the same time), trombonist Graham Hughes and double bass Ben Martyn (Barry\u2019s son).\u00a0\u00a0 Ben sung the number he wrote, \u2018My Heart is in New Orleans\u2019, which he dedicated to Paul Bonner.\u00a0 Ben got me to sing with the band, but I was caught off guard and (of course) couldn\u2019t remember a single word of the song &#8211; so embarrassing as I do know them, (sorry audience, I had lost my voice (much to Keith\u2019s delight) a couple of weeks ago with the dreaded lurgie and was a bit croaky) \u2013 \u2018la la la\u2019 is a great savour, isn\u2019t it!\u00a0 Barry sung numbers of Doris Day, Hoagie Carmichael and many more.\u00a0 Someone asked Barry what style of jazz do they play?\u00a0 He said \u201cWe play jazz man, just jazz\u201d!\u00a0 Their last number was \u2018When the Saints go Marching in\u2019, with the front line playing whilst walking around the whole audience and everyone (except possibly three), went home on an extreme high.\u00a0 Thank you so much Barry, for honouring us by playing at our little club.\u00a0 What is so upsetting is, as mentioned last week, this is Barry\u2019s last tour here in England, so it was the last time he will be seen\/heard at our Farnborough Jazz Club here in Kent.\u00a0 Keith and I believe our lovely audience gave the band, in return, a wonderful send off with their appreciation and dancing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you wish to experience Barry again, you will have to travel to New Orleans.\u00a0 But wait a minute, we do have something up our sleeves, The Martyn Brothers\u2019 will be with us on 8<sup>th<\/sup> April 2011.\u00a0 This will be Barry\u2019s TWO sons &amp; Co, as Emile is a drummer like his Dad.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">So lets see the return of a huge audience (\u2018cause we did let you go home, trusting you to return!)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Live jazz (or any music) makes such a difference to how you face your next week.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Diane and Keith<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You may recall my computer received a \u2018virus\u2019!\u00a0 The following information was completed as at 1st August 2012. \u00a0Apologies, this page will be update ASAP.
