He was with \u2018Gambit\u2019 and \u2018Papa Joe\u2019s\u2019 bands throughout the nineties, before forming the \u2018Sussex Jazz Kings\u2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>IAIN MCAULAY, trombone. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He played for many years in Scotland with top bands. \u00a0A very experienced trombone player and great vocalist and entertainer.\u00a0 Having had a break from playing for many years, he recently moved down to the South and we are very lucky to have found him and brought him back on to the jazz scene. \u00a0He is now a popular and valued permanent member of our band.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>BERNARD STUTT, clarinet.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A very experienced player, with the bite of Johnny Dodds and the sweetness of George Lewis when required. \u00a0Steeped in the classic jazz period, he also enjoys playing the less disciplined style of revival New Orleans Jazz.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bernard was with the \u2018Frog Island Jazz Band\u2019 for many years, playing all the classic Jelly Roll Morton, \u2018New Orleans Wanderers\u2019 and \u2018Hot Five\u2019 numbers. \u00a0You will not hear a better Johnny Dodds style, classic rendering of \u2018Perdido\u00a0 Street\u2019\u00a0 anywhere.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>PETE LAY, drums.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Not only a superb New Orleans style drummer, but has been a band leader with \u2018Gambit\u2019 and a festival promoter for many years. \u00a0He also has an immense knowledge of all aspects of jazz especially that played in the \u2018Crescent City\u2019. \u00a0He can often come up with information and \u2018little snippets of interest\u2019 on stage. \u00a0The band learn a lot of background \u2018info\u2019 from him. We are delighted to have him with us.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Peter Clancy, string bass and Sousaphone. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A brilliant string bass and Sousaphone player, that \u2018gives it his all\u2019 on every performance. \u00a0He contributes with a superb, strong rhythm that is absolutely essential to the sound that the band produces. \u00a0His Sousaphone-playing is very melodic and adds another dimension to the band on certain numbers. \u00a0He also sings some numbers with the band.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Phil Durell, banjo.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He has a wealth of experience in all facets of New Orleans Jazz. \u00a0I first met Phil back in the seventies, when he was playing with the \u2018Bill Brunskill Band\u2019 and we have played together in many bands over the years. \u00a0His playing rings out and his rhythm keeps the band under control if we get too excited. \u00a0He is a wonderful asset to the band.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Although the band is full of fun, the \u2018Sussex Jazz Kings\u2019 are very serious about playing the music we all love.
