{"id":277,"date":"2013-10-08T15:25:44","date_gmt":"2013-10-08T15:25:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/?page_id=277"},"modified":"2014-02-27T23:52:46","modified_gmt":"2014-02-27T23:52:46","slug":"chez-chestermans-band-of-brothers-cvs","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/farnboroughjazz.co.uk\/?page_id=277","title":{"rendered":"Chez Chesterman&#8217;s Brothers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>CHEZ CHESTERMAN\u2019S BAND OF BROTHERS<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>John Crocker<\/b>\u00a0is on clarinet and saxophones.\u00a0 He was for many years a stalwart of \u2018<b>Chris Barber\u2019s Band<\/b>\u2019, who can occasionally be persuaded to sing!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>John Howlett<\/b>\u00a0on trombone, is another singer.\u00a0 He is a former member of the \u2018<b>Clyde<\/b><b>\u00a0Valley\u00a0<\/b><b>Stompers<\/b>\u2019 and late of the \u2018<b>West Sussex Jazz Kings<\/b>\u2019.\u00a0 In an earlier life, John was a rather senior career diplomat \u2013 now he can swear in 23 languages!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The back line, engine room, rhythm section, is just about as good as it gets.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On banjo and guitar we have the incomparable\u00a0<b>Roy James<\/b>, who was with\u00a0<b>Acker<\/b>\u00a0in the good old days of the \u2018trad\u2019 boom.\u00a0 Roy has graced a number of bands including that of the great\u00a0<b>Bob Wallis<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On string bass is the ubiquitous\u00a0<b>Andy Lawrence<\/b>, a member of \u2018<b>Terry Lightfoot\u2019s Band<\/b>\u2019<b>\u00a0<\/b>for several years and someone who has strut his stuff with many other top bands.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Keeping things moving at the back is my favourite drummer,\u00a0<b>Bill Finch<\/b>, whom I first met when he was with the \u2018<b>Original Eastside Stompers<\/b>\u2019 and with whom I was privileged to play in the \u2018<b>New Stompers<\/b>\u2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">That just leaves me,\u00a0<b>Chez Chesterman<\/b>, on cornet and vocals.\u00a0 I was 3 years with \u2018<b>Johnny Parker\u2019s Goodtime Band<\/b>\u2019 then formed my own band, appearing on BBC radio, firstly on the \u2018<b>Jimmy Young Show<\/b>\u2019, then the \u2018<b>Terry Wogan Show<\/b>\u2019.\u00a0 From 1992 to 1998, I ran \u2018<b>Hot Stuff!<\/b>\u2019, a 7 piece classic jazz band, which played festivals, theatres and arts centres around the UK.
