BOB DWYER’S BIX & PIECES, what a lovely band for me to return to.  Unfortunately, I missed a fabulous evening, last week (cataract op + others), so am hoping to be back on Friday (28th September 2018) to enjoy Bob’s super lot.  If you are reading this newsletter and want to know what I’m talking about, then get down here to FARNBOROUGH JAZZ CLUB (Kent) and join Keith and me – and find out for yourself.  Band leader, BOB (trombonist & vocalist) will be joined by musicians, MALCOLM WALTON on trumpet, SARAH SPENCER on clarinet, alto & tenor saxes, with HUGH CROZIER on piano &vocals, JOHN BAYNE on double bass &bass sax, DAVE PRICE banjo &guitar and of course GRAHAM COLLICOTT on drums.  Join us again for a great evening of dancing jazz.  They will show the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ bosses about playing the right music for the right dance.  Yes, they make me angry, how can an amateur dance with feeling, if the music is wrong!!!!!!!!!!!  Oops, sorry to let off steam!  (Still like to watch it, though).

Barry Palsor’s Super Six, 21st September 2018

Hi Everybody, sorry – but no real newsletter as had cataract op this morning at 6:30am and have just woken after everything was completed.  Operation appears very successful and am feeling good, but will not be at the club tonight.  So if you can all make an effort to join Keith and give him all the support he deserves please.  Of course it will be much better for you all without this ol’ girl being there!  The band will appreciate a happy audience too – thanks.  Barry has the following band with him tonight:

Alan Gresty (tpt),  Tim Huskisson (reeds),  Barry (trom),  Andy Lawrence (bass),  John Tyson (drs),  Tony Pitt (bjo)

The NEW ORLEANS Z’HULUS are over on their 2018 UK Tour and playing their finale with us Friday, 14th September 2018.  So come and join us here at  FARNBOROUGH JAZZ CLUB (Kent) and. and make it the best evening for them to go home on.  We are a fun club, with lots enjoying ‘a light fantastic’ and and many enjoying just listening.  I’ll fill you in again that this international band was put together by band leader, BRIAN TURNOCKBrian lives between U.K. and Belgium and plays double bass.  He has recorded with many ‘greats’ such as George Lewis and Lil Armstrong.  Brian chose to  put together the great talents of the two BELGIANS ,trumpeter DAN VERCRUYSSE and trombonist PHILIPPE DeSMET, plus FRENCHMAN, clarinettist ‘BOSS’ QUEROD and certainly not least, English musicians, banjoist PAUL SEALEY (10yrs with  The Chris Barber’s Band) and definitely not least, drummer EMILE MARTYN.  Emile lives between England, BELGIUM and the U.S.A. (frequently visiting his Dad, famous band leader Barry Martyn – now living in New Orleans).

You wont regret joining us – you just cant beat listening to true talent
